John ‘Frugal’ Dougall has been holding government accountable since he was first elected to the Utah House of Representatives in 2002 and later as State Auditor. As a State Representative, he helped drive the legislative budget process. A champion of fiscal responsibility, John co-sponsored the 2007 tax reform bill that passed unanimously, handing Utahns a historic tax cut.
John’s knowledge of tax policy, combined with a long history of challenging bloated government programs, has never been more important. Utah’s economic future is uncertain, and we need leaders who know how to identify wasteful spending, reform budgets, and provide financial relief. John and Aimee will fight to protect every taxpayer dollar as they bring more accountability to the state budget and provide greater government transparency. Under their leadership, Utah’s future will be bright.
In addition to his political activities, John has a long career in the tech sector, working for large companies and small startups in an array of management and technical positions.
John received his Master of Business Administration degree from Brigham Young University in 2000. He also has a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, both from Brigham Young University. He and his wife Sandy have 3 children and reside in Highland.
